LIONS MANE BRAIN BALLS WITH MISTY DAY

Not long ago, Rachel Dawson, owner of Misty Day, attended a dinner party where she was served the most amazing bliss balls. After tasting them, she couldn’t resist asking for the recipe, and the gracious host happily shared it. To enhance the recipe, Rachel decided to incorporate the magic of Lion’s Mane. This mushroom (Hericium erinaceus) is known for its soothing and nourishing effects on the digestive and nervous systems.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      
Lion's mane is highly regarded in China and Japan, valued both as a food and in traditional medicine. Recently, its benefits for the nervous system have made it a favorite among health enthusiasts. Research suggests it may enhance the body’s production of Nerve Growth Factor (NGF), which is essential for the development, growth, and repair of nerve cells within and outside the central nervous system. In practical terms, increased NGF levels may support a healthy nervous system and could aid in repairing nervous tissue damaged by age, trauma, or disease.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            
While there is limited scientific evidence to suggest that lion’s mane boosts cognition in healthy adults—something many people seek—there’s plenty of anecdotal evidence to support its use. These bliss balls make a delightful afternoon pick-me-up!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups roasted almonds
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 2 tablespoons almond butter
  • 2 tablespoons rice syrup
  • 4 medjool dates
  • 1/4 cup cacao powder
  • 3 teaspoons lion's mane powder
  • 200g melted chocolate
Method:
  1. Combine all ingredients in a food processor and blend until slightly lumpy.
  2. Roll into balls and enjoy (but hide them from the kids)!
